The September 2021 Library Board meeting was called to order Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at 6:05 p.m.
Attendees:

Library Director: Absent
Recognition of Open Meeting Rules: recognized.
Minutes from the August 9 meeting were approved.
Public Comment - Mark Liebman was to attend, but canceled due to illness.
Librarian Report:
• New Members—11 new members.
• Circulation Numbers—1273 books/DVD’s for August; 229 checkouts on Overdrive. The breakdown is available in monthly reporting.
• New Materials Review - Detailed list available at the library for August books. Adult purchases will be posted on Facebook and other social media sites.
Monthly Finance Review—Report of financials to be submitted to the city:

McKeen moved that bills be approved. Schmidt-Cottrell seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passes.
Reports of Officers and Board Committees
• Treasurer Report: The report was reviewed.
Unfinished Business
• Back Wall - Ramp complete. Board received a painting bill - City Council found money to cover painting. The library does not have to pay. Library awaiting City locating original doc & response on Trust.. Schmidt-Cottrell will attend meeting for follow up questions
• Basement Walls- City maintenance is cemented around bldg. The Library Board will create a Fix-it-log to track the progress of maintenance problems.
• Scholastic Book Fair - Raised $2148.40 - will receive $859.36 Scholastic Dollars
• Friends Group Update -Working on Fall Craft Show.
• Community newsletter - Will go Digital - Schmidt-Cottrell will set up an email address for the newsletter & put the newsletter on the library website
• Foundation Update - Hold Special library board meeting - try to organize
New Business
• Cass County Recovery Group to check out 2 tablets for the event - Will pay a rental fee
• Election of Board Members - Tabled
• Friends Group/Foundation/Library Board/Librarian - tabled until next meeting
• Library Submits yearly Budget for review
• LPS Community Engagement Event - Farber said LPS is having meetings to discuss the school’s problems and how to fix them - Events are open to anyone in the community
• Evaluation of Library-Walkthrough - tabled until next meeting
• Kid Computers - Tabled as committee needs to meet before offering recommendations
• Annual review of library policies with updates from all members -Tabled
• Board Goals for Next Year - Tabled

Schmidt Cottrell moved to adjourn the meeting. Rose seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passes. Meeting adjourned at 9:05 pm.
