The September 2020 Library Board meeting was called to order Monday, September 7, 2020 at 6:04 p.m.

Attendees:

Board Members: Jerry Bergman, Stacee Schmidt-Cottrell, Patty Hibler, and Jen Rose

Library Director: Michelle Daniels

Recognition of Open Meeting Rules: recognized.

Hibler motioned to approve last month’s minutes. Bergman seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passes. 

Librarian Report: 

• New Members—1 new members. 

• Circulation Numbers—585 books/DVD’s forAugust; 196 checkouts on Overdrive for August. The breakdown is available in monthly reporting. 

• Overdue Report—Currently not keeping track of the overdue at this time since people are not to be getting out. 

• New Materials Review - Detailed list available at the library for August books. Adult purchases will be posted on Facebook and other social media sites. 

•Library applied for the Youth Grant for Excellence from the Nebraska Library Commission. Daniels proposes using the money to create Activity Boxes for checkout.

• Virtual Scholastic Book Fair only reached 14% of our goal. We were far from our goal this year.

• Library received a $1000 donation from the Simon Family. Thanks you are in order.

• Monthly Finance Review—Report of financials to be submitted to the city: 


Expenses: Visa $575.25 


Income: Copies, Faxes, Fines (08-30-2020) $10.00 

Bergman moved that bills be approved. Hibler seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passes. 

General Business 

• Louisville Library Bookworm Buddies: Nothing new to report.

• Treasurer Report: The report was reviewed. 

Old Business 

• Library Budget was submitted to the City Council for final approval.

• Election of Board Officers: The Board nominated and voted on a replacement for the Board’s previous secretary. Stacee Schmidt-Cottrell was nominated. McKeen motion for approval and Hibler Seconded. Motion voted. The Motion passes.

• Nebraska Community Fund: Cottrell is requesting a video conference w/ Director for Oct 12th.

• Scholastic Book Fair - The Book fair is being held online and ends Sept 4th. Daniels will be holding a Facebook contest to win a $20 Walmart gift card. 

• CIPA Filters - McKeen Researched and said we needed more info to discuss. Will obtain info for next meeting

New Business 

• Librarian presentation of Yearly Budget - Board Reviews before being submitted to City Council 

• Back to School - Not much Library can do while COVID 19 remains a problem. 

• Virtual Fundraising - Board Members are suppose to come with ideas for next meeting

• Volkswagen Show and Shine - Discuss possible ideas for fundraisers - Will finalize next meeting


Set Date/Agenda: Suggestions for October 12, 2020, at 6:00 p.m. 


• Budget presented to City Council for final approval

• Written Evaluation of Librarian

McKeen moved to adjourn the meeting. Bergman seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passes. Meeting adjourned at 8:02 pm.
