The October 2020 Library Board meeting was called to order Monday, October 12, 2020, at 6:10 p.m.
Attendees: Board Members: Jerry Bergman, Stacee Schmidt-Cottrell, Patty Hibler, and Laura McKeenAbsent: Jen Rose
Library Director: Michelle Daniels
Recognition of Open Meeting Rules recognized.
Hibler motioned to approve last month’s minutes. Bergman seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passes.
Librarian Report
• New Members—1 new members.
• Circulation Numbers—726 books/DVDs for October; 190 checkouts on Overdrive for October. The breakdown is available in monthly reporting.
• Overdue Report—190
• New Materials Review - Detailed list available at the library for October books. Adult purchases will be posted on Facebook and other social media sites.
Monthly Finance Review—Report of financials to be submitted to the city:
• Expenses: Visa $456.89
•Revenue:
• Copies, Faxes, Fines (09-30-2020) $17.00
• Memorial Monies - $125.00
Revenue Total - $442.00
Hibler moved that bills be approved. Bergman seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passes.
General Business
• Louisville Library Bookworm Buddies: Nothing new to report.
• Treasurer Report: The report was reviewed.
• Drywall in the basement and stairwell has been replaced - A teen service group has volunteered to paint the basement.
• The library was approached about selling an antique fan. The board declined the offer.
Old Business
• Written Librarian Evaluation - Tabled
• Nebraska Community Fund: meeting w/ Director - The board met with K.C. Belitz, Chief Operating Officer of the Nebraska Community Fund. Belitz explained how their funds work, including the amount needed to join, fees, monthly costs, etc. After speaking w/Belitz, the board discussed their options but was disinclined to go that route at this time.
• Friends Group Informational Meeting - Tabled
• Virtual Fundraising - Tabled until next meeting
• Discuss plans for Holiday Events - Possible lead for a Santa and Reindeer - Scatter Joy Acres
New Business
• Midland Community Fund - Schmidt Cottrell will set up a meeting w/ED Tonee Gay to discuss their Community fund options.
• ALA Grant - tabled til the next meeting
• Friends Group Organizational Meeting Progress - Next meeting
• Reopening Library Discussion - Library to soft open - 10-2 Adults only. Signage will be placed. Masks recommended. Curbside service is still available. Limit 5 people in the library at once. If the meter goes Orange Library will re-close its doors to offer curbside only. The library will need to be deep cleaned.
Motion to approve Library soft opening. Yeah - Hibler, McKeen, Bergman. Nay- Schmidt-Cottrell Not Present- Rose The motion passes.

McKeen moved to adjourn the meeting. Bergman seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passes. The meeting adjourned at 8:07 pm.
