The March 2021 Library Board meeting was called to order Monday, March 8, 2021, at 6:07 p.m. 

Attendees:

Board Members: Jerry Bergman, Stacee Schmidt-Cottrell, Patty Hibler, and Laura McKeen, Jen Rose Library Director: Michelle Daniels

Recognition of Open Meeting Rules: recognized.


McKeen motioned to approve last month’s minutes. Bergman seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passes. 


Librarian Report 

• New Members—2 new members. 

• Circulation Numbers—1580 books/DVD’s for March; 189 checkouts on Overdrive. The breakdown is available in monthly reporting. 

• New Materials Review - Detailed list available at the library for March books. Adult purchases will be posted on Facebook and other social media sites.


Monthly Finance Review—Report of financials to be submitted to the city: 


Expenses:

  • Lakeside Collections - Laminator & Lamination sheets - $42.76

  • Baker & Taylor -$ 175.35- adult fiction

  • Baker & Taylor -$ 15.13- adult fiction

  • Pikeville online bargains - $ 217.50 - Audio Books 

  • Walmart  - $36.36 - Dvd batteries, tote, measuring tape

  • Walmart - 45.77 - DVDs, kleenex, toilet paper, paper towels, foil

  • Target - $33.92 - New release DVD & Adult Fiction 

  • Goodwill - $24.32 - Children/Teen Books

  • Goodwill - $26.97 - Children/Tenn Books


Revenue:

  • Copies, Faxes, Fines - $10.00

 McKeen moved that bills be approved. Bergman seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passes. 


Librarian Report/General Business 

• Applying for Walmart Grant - more info to come

• Applying for Pilcrow Foundation matching grant to receive up to $1,200 (a retail value) of new, quality, hardcover children’s books. - May need to match up to $400. Decision April  15

• $200 Community gift cards for survey returns, approved to spend money on flyers

• Treasurer Report: The report was reviewed.

Old Business 

• Back Wall - update - Thrasher has begun to repair the north library wall. The back ramp to the library is temp removed. More info to come

• Friends Group Update - The friends’ group selected 2 ladies to co-chair the friends group. Michelle Daniels will be the secretary and the group has also selected a treasurer. The next meeting is March 27. 

• New Bookcases are complete and in the library.

• City report - The library submitted it’s annual report to the city council for yearly review.

• Community Outreach/ Library Accreditation - Daniels put together a Community survey using questions board members submitted. 


New Business 

• In conjunction with the Community outreach the library board is looking into creating a community newsletter. May possibly join it with the Louisville Bulletin. 

• Concerns about the Trust running out and alley security were mentioned. More discussion will occur at the next meeting. 

• Library Evaluation- tabled until next meeting


Set Date/Agenda Suggestions for Next Meeting• Next Meeting will be Monday, April 12, 2021, at 6:00 p.m.

  • Advertise new board members, if needed


McKeen moved to adjourn the meeting. Schmidt-Cottrell seconded the motion. All in favor. The motion passes. Meeting adjourned at 7:39 pm.
